SecureData Security, part of JSE-listed SecureData Holdings and the leading African distributor for TippingPoint Technologies, today announced the latter’s two new intrusion prevention systems (IPS) designed to secure network traffic for small and medium enterprises. The TippingPoint® 110 and TippingPoint 330 provide ideal security for organisations with remote or branch offices as well as managed security service providers (MSSPs) focused on delivering dedicated protection services for their customers’ assets.
“Many small to medium organisations and large enterprises with numerous branch offices are moving toward securing their network environments with fewer resources,” commented Robert Ayoub, senior research analyst at Frost & Sullivan. “Managed security service providers are in a prime position to offer dedicated intrusion prevention services and risk management capabilities to organisations that lack or are downsizing their in-house security resources.”
Both the TippingPoint 110 and TippingPoint 330 provide comprehensive traffic inspection and filtering using TippingPoint’s Digital Vaccine® service to identify and block security threats before they impact the network. Additionally, both products can be managed locally or by using the TippingPoint Security Management System (SMS) for more robust management and reporting options.
“We’ve had tremendous success providing network protection at the perimeter. However, IPS performance requirements are sometimes more stringent internally,” added James Collinge, director of product line management for TippingPoint. “The introduction of these appliances gives our customers more options for deployment between internal zones, out at remote or satellite offices and in some cases at the DMZ to protect valuable Web application assets.”
